Restit TV, for audience results calculated on the fly
After Collecting data to measure audiences and Converging on an overall audience, here is the last instalment in our trilogy of articles devoted to technological innovation at Médiamétrie and its operational applications to enrich audience measurement and anticipate the changes to come.
The reporting of data to clients constitutes the third pillar of audience measurement, after collecting and processing the information. During the TechnologyHotspot(s) in July 2015, Médiamétrie presented its new tool for reporting TV audiences: Restit TV, a next-generation interface for viewing TV audience results. The use of so-called "NoSQL" (Not Only SQL) technologies, as well as cloud computing, gives it power and speed.
Médiamétrie innovates throughout the data processing chain, as well as in the results-reporting phase. Improved reporting, by choosing a "light" or "web" client-type solution, for users looking for user-friendly, visually pleasing and quick-response interfaces.
Restit TV, available since last year, is an interface for reporting TV audience results that meet these criteria. About one hundred clients already use it, and it is constantly enriched with new features.
Restit TV can calculate audiences by target, programme, quarter-hour, etc., within a few seconds or even fractions of a second.
This is not software that needs to be downloaded onto a dedicated work station: the interface is accessible to subscribers on any computer or tablet through a simple web browser.
A channel's schedule can be viewed over a single day, with access to the audiences for each programme by mouseover. A focus on a programme gives access to the audience curve and sorting by target. Answers to complex queries come back in a fraction of a second. In fact, distributing the computational power among several servers that automatically adapt to the number and types of queries sent to the system ensures this performance. Restit TV benefits from many advantages thanks to being hosted in the cloud: backups, security, smooth updates and more.
Médiamétrie continues to develop Restit TV's features at the same time clients are adopting it, which means staying continuously updated with users' feedback. "New features, like the capacity to integrate outside data around a programme, in particular the social media audience or even those watching it via streaming, will soon be integrated into Restit TV", explained Julien Rosanvallon, Television Department Director at Médiamétrie.
A tool that has progressive abilities to reflect all the new practices in viewing TV.
